2013 in Review - It was a busy year

WOW, times really does fly and I am the first to admit, I am terrible about blogging. After ready some of my other blogging friends 2013 in review, thought I would give it a try.

I was so exhausted after looking at what all we captured in pictures for 2013, I had to take a nap :) Just kidding, hope you enjoy the pictures and here's to a Happy and Healthy 2014 for all.

The 2013 year started with New Year's celebration in Florida with fireworks and fishing for all.

In February, I missed this young ladies' (aka great friend) 60th birthday celebration bash at home. But I was there is mind and spirit.

I happened to be in Falmouth, Jamaica on my third medical mission trip - this trip always gives me great pleasure and recharges my battery. I am now the proud owner of a permanent RN license in the country of Jamaica.
These are some of the reasons I love getting back to being a RN:

Sherwood, Jamaica is home to Usain Bolt, the world's fastest man. I actually got to meet his Momma.

March found me in Chicago for a conference and the Looperman joined me. We enjoyed Margaritaville on Navy Pier.

Hancock tower for some libations and oysters.

The beautiful Chicago skyline.

It's Spring and Don got the new sign up on the dock from the kids.

May was a very eventful month with two very special graduations. Our grandsons Robert (RJ) graduated 8th grade.

Kort graduated Kindergarten. He is kneeling on the front row to the right of the standing girl.

Finally Summer Lake time -

I think Ashley really wanted in this pic.

Fourth of July.

One of many beautiful Bull Shoals' sunsets

Poppa had a great day of fishing with RJ.

We were fortunate enough to have some more great fun in the Bahamas. Thanks to the Captains - we have enjoyed this aspect of fishing and exploring that would have never happened without them. Yes, those are Cheeseburgers in Paradise :)

Said to be the restaurant that inspired Jimmy's famous song.

It was a big Dolphin fish (Mahi).

Nice catch everyone.

Little snorkeling in Spanish Wells.

Later in the year, we managed some great bicycling. Another trip in the Florida Keys, several times on the Katy Trail and a first for me, the Bass Pro 45 mile ride. All done with great friends and family.

Another MOTM trip in Key West - with Mac entertaining all of the Parrotheads.

And many thanks to this beautiful lady who stood all day in hopes of JB's arrival. Last time anyone of us waits for him. Who is that handsome man next to her?

The fall brought a lot of great MIZZOU football which led to a 2014 Cotton Bowl victory.

My best deer kill ever.

Our first snow.

Christmas at Mom and Dad's house.

Winner's of the ugly Christmas sweater contest.

And an evening with Thatcher on our deck.

That's it for now folks, Have a great 2014, until then

Hunting Season has arrived

As fall approaches, my husband gets more anxious with each passing day and starts tuning his bow and arrow skills. Missouri season opened yesterday, but 1.75 inches of much needed rain that stayed with us all day kept him indoors. Yes, he has been hinting of much needed rain gear. So, if the kids are reading this blog, HINT, HINT!!!!

He was up early this morning (didn't know if was going to make through the nail biting MIZZOU game last night) headed to the great outdoors in his camo gear. As luck and patience would have it, he scored a nice doe. Way to go Looperman!!!

Will keep you posted (HA!) as the season continues, until then -

FINS UP!!!!!

Memories

Last night the Looperman and I travelled to Mtn. Grove to see my Mom honored at homecoming halftime as a junior attendant in the Class of 1954 homecoming royalty. She looked proud and emotional as she was escorted down the 50 yard line. I noticed a white tissue wiping a little water from the eyes. Not sure where her thoughts were, but I think looking back over the years can bring many overwhelming thoughts of the journey that brought you into this very moment. I and my sister Neacie were very proud for her last night and she certainly deserved the recognition. Here's to you Mom, thanks for being such a dedicated parent and even a better role model for all of us women.

Along with my Mom was a long time friend (on the right) who seemed to enjoy the evening, also.
On a personal note, I realized that I had not stepped on the MG field since 2005, WOW, where does 7 years go. The football game brought back some great memories of watching our boys play football and our daughter march in the band. It also appeared to me that even though the stadium seating is a larger area than in my children's day, the closeness among the fans seemed missing, singing the Panther Fight Song is almost non-existent after touchdowns, which the Panthers had plenty of last night. That saddens me...................I have always loved the Panther Spirit.
I guess things aren't meant to stay the same forever, but some traditions should be carried forward. Here's the best to the future of Panther football and to especially #7, you did a great job last night.
